Kiran Nair

Kiran Nair graduated from Whittier Law School in 2003. Her practice focuses on immigration law and criminal defense. She has gained valuable experience in working with specialists in immigration law and criminal defense before joining the Law Offices of Fred Thiagarajah in 2007. Kiran regularly appears in immigration courts, advocating for families and individuals in venues such as Los Angeles, San Pedro and Lancaster. With an increasing number of legal immigrants in this country, there is a growing need for attorneys experienced in both criminal defense and immigration. Kiran specializes in handling immigration cases for people with criminal convictions, especially removal/deportation hearings. She is also consulted by numerous criminal defense attorneys for advice on immigration consequences because of her in-depth knowledge of the overlap in criminal defense and immigration. Kiran`s immigration experience is not limited to removal/deportation hearings. She also handles asylum cases and family-based visa petitions.
Kiran also has extensive experience in prosecuting and defending restraining orders and protective orders, and in probation and parole violation hearings. Although Kiran zealously represents her clients` interests in restraining order cases, she has done very well in reaching resolutions with opposing counsel, in order to save her clients time and money. Through her extensive pro bono work for victims of domestic violence, Kiran has become incredibly proficient in handling all aspects of restraining orders (or protective orders) especially as they relate to domestic violence.
Kiran is a member of California Public Defenders Association, Orange County Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association and Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. She speaks Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.
